About
Our Mission
Samudra Conservation is a network of marine conservationists, scientists and scuba divers to interact with the ocean in a more action-oriented way. Our 'Samudra Conservation Science Diving Certification' is South Asia’s first scientific diving certification that enables scuba divers to become ocean advocates.

Ecosystems

Coral Reefs
A healthy coral reef system is orchestrated by a combination of physical, chemical and biological factors. While assessing coral reefs, it is also important for conservation divers to record and be aware of these factors as they are indicators/predictors of coral reef health.

Seagrasses
Keystone species like The Dugong, Sea Turtles rely heavily on seagrasses for sustenance. Seagrass meadows are typically areas which are considered commercially viable areas which is leading to destruction of these ecological hotspots.

Mangroves
Urbanisation has led to mangrove forests being subjected to displacement. Mangroves are essential in creating barriers for cyclones, storm surges that are accelerated by the changing climate. Losing this ecosystem will have devastating impact since they act as nursery grounds for marine organisms.

Testimonials
Anshul John
"As an instructor who has been teaching for the last 9 years, I am realising the importance of scuba divers participating in ecological progress of the ocean. The Scientific Diving program will be an integral part of learning the skills needed to safeguard the ocean."
Shridhar Joshi
"I am a new scuba diver and I have already witnessed bleaching to the extent of entire reefs vanishing. I cannot imagine how this would shape the ocean in a decade. I feel responsible to take positive action to support marine conservation and SSD enables that."
Anna
"Volunteering with Coastal Impact's artificial reef in Goa gave me a lot of joy as a scuba diver. I feel like being a part of a purpose has made me a better scuba diver as well. Using the research skills, I intend to travel for conservation diving trips across the world and volunteer for ocean conservation."
